Taghazout is a small town in Morocco (Africa), 19 KM north of the city Agadir and 152KM south of Essaouira.
Many tourists, backpackers and surfers visit Morocco every year to surf the famous waves of Taghazout, to enjoy their low-budget holiday and enjoy the relaxed vibes in this town.
Airports to fly to
The nearest airport is Agadir Airport, which is 43 kilometers from Taghazout. Another airport that is widely used to travel to Taghazout is Marrakesh airport. This airport is located 200KM from Taghazout.
There are multiple ways to travel towards Taghazout on land:
- By public transport
- With a car (that you can rent)
- With a taxi
- Transport organised by your accommodation where you will be staying
1. How to go to Taghazout from Agadir airport (AGA)
The closest airport to Taghazout is Agadir Airport. This is a small airport which is located 25 kilometers outside the city of Agadir and 43 KM from Taghazout. The airport has only 1 terminal and the airport is easy to oversee. At the airport there are important services such as: a coffee shop and some shops

How to get to Taghazout from Agadir airport by public transport
In Agadir area there are only busses going, there are no train connections. There aren’t any direct bus connections between the airport and the town of Agadir or Taghazout, but with a few changes you can get to Taghazout by public transport.
1. Outside Agadir Airport you will find a bus stop (there is no sign but you should wait near the roundabout).
2. From here you can take the bus in the direction of Inzegane. This bus is busline 37 and is operated by the company ALSA. The bus 37 runs every 45 minutes between 6:30am to 8:30pm.
3. From Inzegane you can take the city busses: 6, 11 or 96 to Agadir ( to Place Salam in Agadir)
4. From Place Salam witch is the city terminal for busses and taxi’s in Agadir you can find busline 32 Towards Taghazout. This bus is running between: 6:30am to 8:30pm and stops in Taghazout.

2. How to go to Taghazout from Marrakesh airport (RAK)
From Marrakech Airport to Taghazout by public transport.
you can travel from Marrakesh airport to Taghazout by public transport, even if it takes some time!
Before leaving the airport, make sure you have enough local dirhams (MAD) with you to pay for public transport. From the airport in Agadir you can take a taxi (70DH is a good price after negotiation with the taxi driver) or shuttle bus number 19(30DH) to Marrakesh train station. On the left side of the train station is the Supra tour bus station. From here you can take the bus to Agadir bus station. The bus takes about 3 hours for this.
From the bus station in Agadir you can take bus number 2 towards: Place Salam in the center of Agadir. From Place Salam you take bus line 32 or 33, both of which run in the direction of Taghazout (for about 10 DH). You can also get off on both bus lines in Tamraght.
There is also a direct bus from Marrakesh Airport to Taghazout and Tamraght run by Souk to Surf. They have departures every day and you can book tickets on their website. Souk to Surf can also collect you from Marrakesh Medina if you are not coming from the airport (check for your closest stop here).
From Marrakesh Airport (RAK) to Taghazout with a taxi
It’s a lot more expensive, but maybe a lot less stressful. This is also a good option if you want to travel to Taghazout with a larger group. You can take a taxi to Taghazout for about 120 euros. It is best to book this in advance in your accommodation!
From Agadir to Taghazout
The bus from Agadir to Taghazout
From Agadir center to Taghazout there are direct busses driving. From Place Salam witch is the city terminal for busses and taxi’s in Agadir you can find busline 32 Towards Taghazout (for around 10 dirham). This bus is running between: 6:30am to 8:30pm and stops in Taghazout. You can also get off the bus in Aourir or Tamraght.

Another option is to take a taxi from Agadir to Taghazout for around 100 DH
From Essaouira to Taghazout
From Essaouira to Taghazout seems a bit difficult because it looks like you have to go first from Essaouira to Agadir and then back to Taghazout. But if you know the local Moroccan customs and habits, it’s a piece of cake!
From the bus station in Essaouira take a bus to Agadir. It will cost about 50 DH. Ask the bus driver in advance if they can drop you off in Taghazout. The trip takes about 2.5 hours. If the bus has dropped you off, it will probably be at the top of Taghazout near the main road and the roundabout. You now only have to walk down to get to the center of Taghazout.
Use the Moroccan customs and habits again to get from Taghazout to Essaouira. You can of course first travel to Agadir bus station and take the bus to Essaouira from there. You can also stand at the roundabout at the top of the mountain in Taghazout. As soon as a bus comes by you wave loudly. All buses on this road go to Essaouira. As soon as the bus stops, ask if they can take you to Essaouira. Pay again about 50 DH
There is a direct bus to Taghazout and Tamraght run by Souk to Surf. The buses run every day and you book your seats on their website (they also transport surfboards).
How to go to Taghazout from Essaouira to Taghazout by taxi
A taxi from Essaouira to Taghazout is an easy option. The price for the taxi will be approximately 60 Euro and the journey will take approximately 2.5 hours
